Presentations in Medicine for High School Students

Introduction

The National Library of Medicine has partnered with the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science to develop a program of topics of interest to high school students considering careers in the health sciences. Presentations were made to students at the King Drew Medical Magnet High School, an affiliate of the university, and one of two magnet high schools in the U.S. devoted tp preparing minority high school students for health carreers. Some presentations were local, while others were by videoconference from NLM. Selected presentations from the 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 academic years have been archived, along with the material presented. The program will be expanded in the 2007-2008 academic year to include Kotzebue High School in Kotzebue, Alaska (and perhaps some surrounding village schools).
